Bike taxi jobs in Bangalore: Rapido Captain and Uber Moto

Bike taxi riders in Bengaluru work as Rapido Captains or with Uber Moto, and both earn the fare for each ride. Rapido adds fares to a Captain wallet; Uber pays weekly and uses a subscription fee instead of a commission. Both need a bike and a valid driving licence, and Rapido asks for your own bike in Bengaluru.

Rapido and Uber Moto: what the work asks

Rapido Captain

  • age at least 18, a valid driving licence and at least 2 years of driving experience
  • your own bike; Rapido does not rent out EVs in Bengaluru
  • no pending challans, and no conviction or pending case for drunk driving or serious crimes in the past 3 years
  • police verification, a background check and a 30-hour induction training
  • Captains can also take parcel, food and grocery deliveries

Uber Moto

  • age at least 18, a valid driving licence and a background screening
  • a motorbike of model year 2010 or newer, seating one passenger, not salvaged or rebuilt
  • Uber's own onboarding includes an in-person step at a Partner Seva Kendra with your documents and photo

How bike taxi pay works

Rapido: you earn the fare for each ride. Rapido collects it from the customer and adds it to your Captain wallet, which you can move to your bank account. There is no fixed shift, but you can be online for at most 12 hours a day. Joining as a Captain is free of cost, though Rapido's terms let it charge fees or a subscription shown in the app, plus taxes.

Uber Moto: you earn the fare for each ride, paid weekly into your bank account. Uber has moved bike drivers in India to a subscription model: you pay a subscription fee instead of a commission per ride and keep the rest of the fare.

One reported example (Rapido): a Bengaluru student working part-time as a Captain, no more than 15 days a month during vacation and sometimes taking food orders, said he earned around ₹1,200–1,300 a day, with about ₹250–300 a day spent on fuel. One rider's account shared on Reddit, not a fixed rate.

Who bike taxi work suits

  • You own a bike and have riding experience: Rapido asks for at least 2 years of driving experience; Uber Moto checks your bike's model year.
  • You want flexible hours: Rapido has no fixed shift; the student above worked part-time during vacation.
  • You want a mix of work: Rapido Captains can also take parcel, food and grocery deliveries.
  • You prefer a set fee over a commission: Uber Moto's subscription model replaces the per-ride commission.

No bike? Bike taxi work needs one, so see food delivery or quick commerce, where some companies take cycles or rented vehicles.

Count your fuel

Fuel is a real cost here: the Rapido student spent about ₹250–300 a day on it. Keep your vehicle papers current too: Rapido asks for a valid fitness certificate, insurance, PUC and permits, and Uber Moto lists the RC, vehicle insurance and a permit.
